I swear this process is going to take me to the insane asylum!!! I came from Italy 2 months ago finaly got boarded the packet and physical is complete. I went to the board and was supposed find out today if I was selected. Guess what? I went to a Florida board and they are closed for a while due to the hurricane. Man am I selfishly annoyed! lol I just want to know if I was selected! :)

I go to http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/ and my ssn is not found in the packet status list. They also dont have an Aug board listed on the site. Anyone have any ideas for me to find out if I was selected since the Florida Army is closed for this whole "hurricane" thing?

Seriously excited

Well I found out that I was not selected. Really took the wind out of my sails! My packet goes up next month (OCT) for selection again. I hope and pray I am picked up second time around! Does anyone know if people get chosen second time or if it's just a formality?

Flying in the Army is all I want to do so if I am not picked up Ill have to look at other methods of getting in. Man I am totaly bummed but hopeful about the next board.

Does anyone by chance know the stats of selections? I am prior service civilian. How many civilians get selected and are more slots going to be opened next month. Worth a shot is someone knows stick it in here or shoot me a pm. Thanks and cross your fingers for me.

John,
Don't give up....Make sure your packet is just as the instructions require it to be.
This is commin from a guy who has been sitting on the fence since 96.
If they even open my packet at this point I will be happy......
:D
If you need some guidance feel free to PM me,
Chris

Sorry to hear that John, don't give up though; just use this time to strengthen your packet. Do you have any flight time/ratings? What about college? On my board most people that got selected had at least an associate’s degree or equivalent and their private pilot fixed wing. Also a good GPA in college is really important. On the June board the selection rate was around 30%(10 out of 34 got accepted). And people do get picked up the second time around and they will not hold your prior denial against you. In addition, the info on the website you are referring to is only for people that are already in the Army and their board only meets every other month, civilian selection boards meet every month. The only way you can find out there results is from your recruiter. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck.

30% acceptance rate????!!!!!

You mean it's actually competitive again! WOW. I hadn't seen those numbers.

I guess when it rains it pours. Just keep trying, and keep making your packet better.

Chris I checked the packet and followed up everything with anyone/everyone in the USAREC office. I should be good. From what I hear basically the same style as the E-7 board process. Based on points. I am working toward my AS, I am almost half way completed but have maintained a 3.5 GPA. I have some good letters of recommendation. I am prior service, have a solid record. I was honestly thinking I had a really good chance. Hopefully next month will bring better news! This month Ill have 6 more credit hours so Ill update that in my packet, though I am not sure if it will help. I am not sure if they are looking at the total number of semester hours or degreed or not.

WhirlyBird, thanks for the words of encouragement. I plan to update my packet with credit hours from University of Maryland. Other methods I have considered are transferring to Embry Riddle and pursuing an aviation degree, and going back into the Army as a tanker or grunt and then transferring. I was commo before and it lacked something for me.

Stickbuddy (why do I feel strange calling someone that?) apparently very competitive. Currently I just keep preparing physically for WOBC and trying to avoid a peptic ulcer while awaiting the results in October.

Thanks to all for the support, I really hope I make it next month keep the ideas coming and I appreciate the support from everyone.

Keeping my head up,

Keep your head in the game. My packett went to a Active Duty board, but I do know your feelings. If it makes your feel any better, my packett was boarded 3 times before I was selected. Keep your chin up, and keep on strenthening that application packett.

Don't sweat the WOCS PT too much. It was not too bad at all. Some long relentless runs, but nothing that any normal person couldn't do. Just prepare yourself mentally for all of the pressure and stress that will be placed on you in the first 2 weeks. That part is no joke.

Just don't give up. If you don't get selected, re-apply. Eventually you will get in!

Good luck sir!

John,
Go to www.armyocs.com and look around at that forum if you haven't already. There is a bit of info on selection rates and stats of those selected. I was one of the 10 selected in June and have talked on armyocs.com about the "stats" of some others who were selected and I feel pretty lucky after seeing what they had.
