This morning, my class leader put out information from B CO that says that WO1's are now on their 6 year obliserve from the moment they pinned WO1.

No longer will WO1's who wash out of flight school be released form the Army. They WILL be reclassed.

This sounded strange, but they read it off of the brief paper.

Has anybody heard any of this stuff?

Are we still conditional?

Thanks all!

Two different ADSOs, one for appointment and the other for flight school. Normally not an issue because the appointment ADSO runs concurrent with the Flight School ADSO.

If you are removed from flight school either voluntarily or involuntarily, then the ADSO for appointment still applies. The soldier may request REFRAD but the CG, HRC is the approval authority for the ADSO waiver. In the past this may have been a little more routine, but these are not normal times. We are short in 10-12 Technical Warrant Officer MOSs where the individual may be required to complete their ADSO for appointment as a Warrant Officer.

AR 350-100

2-3. Warrant officer appointment
Effective 1 October 1992, individuals appointed as warrant officers, with concurrent call to active duty, incur a 6-year ADSO.

2-7
e. Officers who attend initial entry flight training on or after 30 September 1990 will incur a 6-year ADSO on completion of the course or voluntary termination of attendance (see AR 611-110 ). Officers who entered into a service agreement before 1 October 1990, will be subject to the terms of said agreement, and will serve on active duty for the period specified in the agreement.

Thank you Mr. Jenkins. I will explain this to my classmates. I don't know what the big fuss is all about. Nothing has changed.

So the question is, does your ADSO start ticking when you complete IERW (last nights checkride) or when you pin your wings on after OBC?

Good question. CJ jump in if you know something different, but find the orders which said:

ACTION: AWARD OF ARMY AVIATOR BADGE AND AERONAUTICAL DESIGNATION OF ARMY AVIATOR

These should be found in your Individual Flight Records Folder but should also be in your OMPF and in your I LOVE ME book.

Go down to:

EFFECTIVE DATE: DD MMM YYYY

Add six years.

Plus 2 IRR?

Ahh... That depends.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30, 2008 – Though they may serve only two to four years on active duty, soldiers who enlist in the Army takes on an eight-year commitment. When they leave active duty, they can serve the remainder of their obligation in the National Guard or Army Reserve, but they also can fulfill the commitment in the Individual Ready Reserve.

So the point is THE REST of your original 8 year enlistment must be spent in the IRR. If'n the guy has already served 2 or more years by the time he graduates then his IRR commitment is already done by the time his ADSO is complete.

Don't worry about how long you have to stay in… if you are worried about any commitments after WOFT, then maybe you "commitment issues" and aren't committed to being a WO and only in it for the flight training and your own personal advancement! Food for Thought from a "Lifer" :rockon2:

Good one Dirty, let's not forget that getting set back in flight school, and/or getting caught in the bubble does not count either.....

Dude, YOU'RE in flight school. You got time to pay back. You are getting one of the best educations in Aviation in the world, are surrounded by the best the US has to offer, and GET PAID TO FLY. Enjoy life, invest well, plan for retirement, and serve your fellows well.

While that is true, unless you screwed up big somewhere along the way you are a commissioned officer and have a signed a voluntary indef. status by the time your ADSO is up.

This means that you have to request permission to get out and I believe, if they want, they can call you back later, IRR or not.
