If selected, would a non-army prior service individual have to attend Army Basic before WOCS? I would hope so, otherwise there wpould have to be alot of adjustments to the Army way upon entering WOCS school. thanks

Yes, you would. I came inter-service, and inter-service transfers go directly to WOCS.

Trust me, you will be glad that you attended Army boot. The adjustment to the protocol, and jargon was an extremely steep learning curve. I wish that I had been afforded to opportunity to attend Army basic training.

I don't know if Marines have to... i have known several marines who just went straight to their school..no basic.

I think there is a break in service requirement... dont know how long but if you are out for (x) days then you have to do basic again...

I am prior AF and I didn't have to go to Army basic. I just went to hell (OCS) and got hazed by several imps and demons, then they let me out with this shiny piece of gold which makes people wipe thier eyebrow when they see me. I just wipe mine back and keep going.

You will go straight to WOCS. Checkout the attached link for additional information.

For enlisted inter-service transfers and prior Army Soldiers (staying enlisted; not going WO), the Army has developed the Warrior Transition Course (WTC). WTC is a four week course in lieu of going to the full 9-week BCT. It takes into consideration that a prior service individividual has gone through one basic already. It was developed to support OSD's "Blue to Green" program and has expanded to include all prior service Soldiers.

Good luck.

I don't think that inter-service transfers to WOCS are required to attend the WTC course. That course is designed for the enlisted soldiers making the transition in order to avoid being high-year tenured out of the Navy or Air Farce.

AFIAK WOCS active duty inter-service transfers still go straight to WOCC to check in upon arrival in the Army.

I could be wrong, but this is how I interpreted the WTC stuff.

Yep, it hasn't changed for Other Service Warrant Officer Candidate selectees:

"Information On What To Expect After Selection Into The Warrant Officer Program
Those selected for the Warrant Officer Program will be notified by Department of the Army (DA) about 90 days after the board adjourns. DA establishes a reporting date to Ft Rucker, AL based upon MOS requirements. Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) will then publish your orders with authorized travel time to Ft Rucker. Upon arrival, you will be given your basic issue and time to resolve any military related problems, i.e. pay, uniform, etc. You will be paid as an E5, or your current pay grade if higher, and begin wearing the WOC brass. (Please see page on Information on Discharge from Current Service and Enlistment into the Army)."

I am interpreting that as inter-service trasnfers without a break in service. I hope that someone with a 18 month break in service would still go straight to WOCS

Thanks for all thelp folks

OK - I read all of the above and don't think anyone had a definite answer...soooo

I am currently in the AF Reserves, E7. I' am transferring to the Army and going straight to WOCS. No Basic training before WOCS.

The thing I'm worried about.....the lack of Army knowledge on my part...the lingo, the drill and ceremony things of that nature. I don't think I should go to basic training again to get yelled at and treated like a 12 year old with my thumb in my mouth.

I'm sure I'll get razzed more than the Army folk..but what the hell? ( I say don't hate me because I chose to live in hotels and enjoy the finer things the military is willing to give) But, i am truly honored and proud that the Army chose to accept me into the the Warrant Officer training and Aviator training. Now I get to prove how much it does mean to me to fullfill a dream! Being an Army aviator is one the most honorable professions and I am proud to have my chance at it!

(OK - enough sappy sh*t)

Denise,
Congrats on your selection for WOCS. You've got a good head on your shoulders, I'm sure you'll do fine.

Re; The thing I'm worried about.....the lack of Army knowledge on my part...the lingo, the drill and ceremony things of that nature....,
here's a link to a thread from last year, where we listed and discussed all the Army lingo and Acronyms you'll ever need:

Thanks a TON Sparky!!

I am lucky - I drilled last month with the Army for the first time and was able to pick up the FM 3-21 Drill and Ceremonies, The Soldiers Manual of Common Tasks and a protracter. (Um yeah - I've never done true land nav...) but I think the SMCT is an old version...it'll still help me I think.

just trying to get any bit of info I can to help.

AF2ARMY I don’t know if you have left yet but I have been researching this same thing and I kept getting the "I will get back to you on that" answer but no one ever did so I took it to the top and emailed the Army recruiting command and yes you will go to BCT but only the refresher it is the same things as the blue to green program. It is a four week warrior training. You do have the option to go through the full 9 week BCT.
