View Full Version : Dog Sitters at Rucker
Okay - sounds stupid...but I'm single and have two large dogs (see avatar)
So for WOCS, I plan to head down there early and find someone who can "foster" my kids for 6 weeks. I know once flight school starts we can live anywhere and I can have them with me, but does anhyone here know of any type of dog sitting services down there? Or at the very least a really good kennel...I hate to put them in a kennel for that long, but that'll be worst case scenario.
Thanks for any help...:wall:
There is a place in Dothan called the Bed and Biscuit (ph#334-793-0900). They charge $20 a day but I am pretty sure they have a monthly rate as well. I have used them a few times and our dog seems to have a good time there.
They have a house that is divided up where they keep the large dogs in one area and the smaller ones in another. They have tv's for them to watch and old couches and recliners for them to kick back on. The take them outside in their backyard regulary.
They do want you to come by before you drop off your dog for the first time so they can check out his temperment. I have heard they have called people before and asked them to come and pick up their dog because they were not getting along with the others.
Hope this helps.

What kind of dogs are they? Are they house trained?

 You mean dogs! I go out in the garage and can find two or three sleeping in there on the cold nights. Ha-Ha! Great for security when you have a boxer, rottweiler, a retriever and a large lab all ready to eat the intruders. (BTW, only the lab is mine.)
I know there are a few kennels here. We used one in Enterprise when we first moved here. It was okay but it is an outside kennel. The vet we use also has a kennel service. I really do like the vet and have heard great things about the kennel part of their office as well.

Corbie, a dalmatian, just turned 13 in december
Nika, a Siberian Husky will turn 9 in April
they are both house and cage broken, and have lived indoors with me their entire lives...(husky was a little older, rescued her from abusive owner)
They are both good with other dogs except the Nika gets a bit dog agressive when she is on leash - they are both fixed and in good health. They are both good with kids, but Corbie will hit ya with is tail sometimes, so that is the only problem I've seen with him around the little ones.
Corbie will listen to you when he is offleash and doesn't run away too much....Nika on the other hand...if you let her offleash and there is not a fence around her, she will be gone...and will run forever. (I've gotten somes serious running training chasing her!)
They were foster parented while I was overseas for about 16 mos and had no problems with the foster parents or their dogs. They can't be seperated - Nika goes crazy when I take corbie to the vet alone or something.
feel free to ask any questions and I will check into all of the recommendations!
thanks!!!!

Good for you! Best of Luck!
Hang tuff, Air Evac1. You'll do great!
I have 3 dogs and found that Enterprise Animal Hospital really took great care of all of them. I have one beagle in particular that tends to get into trouble (rat poison, garbage cans, fights with much bigger dogs) and Enterprise Animal Hospital treated him like a VIP every time. Also, the Vet Clinic on post is pretty good in terms of Army Vets. Good luck in WOCS!
