Hey All,

I was so glad to find this site because I've been looking all over the Net for WOCS info. I'm going to WOCS in July for the RC course. I've read in previuos threads here that the course is chaning to be more field-oriented. Any recent grads know the details? I've heard that the land nav course is now something that can get you removed from the course if you fail Any truth to this?

My final question involves graduation. I know that your family can pin you, but how many people can pin you? Ideally, I'd like my wife and father to pin me. Can you have more than one person pin you?

Thabks in advance you for answers and I'm really glad I've found this site. I found a lot of good information here that set my mind at ease about what to expect at Rucker. I know if I just try my best and put up with everything without giving up, I'll make it through.

Thanks again!

As far as how many can pin you, a few of the wives of recent grads have told me that they were able to have more than one person come up to pin them so you should hopefully be allowed to have your wife and father up there for it.

Good luck!

I suggest that you don't fail anything while in the course.

Chapters 5 and 9....Non-negotiable

Chapters 2 and 8 would not hurt either.

AndyMiller,

I don't plan on failing anything....just curiuos is a land nav NO-GO was grounds for dismissal. I've heard both yes and no.

Thanks

Sorry Don, I was referring to IERW. Most people think that WOCS in this day and time is a breeze and can cruise right through it. I hope that is not the case.

I attended a WOC Graduation a couple of months ago and many grads had 2 people pinning them.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it was easy. Some classes are easier than others, it just depends which class you fall into. Some TACS are far more harsh than others as well. My class had a 20% setback rate.

As for the land Nav. Those who received "No-go's" remediated just before graduation. It isn't the hardest part. The Command Inspection is, by far, the most difficult and stressful portion of the course.

Yes, more than 1 person can pin on your bars.

Good luck in WOCS. It is just a gut check. If you really want it, you will do fine.

WOJG,

Thanks for the info! What does the Command Inspection ential? Is it an inspection of all your equipment? Is it an inspection where they ask you questions? Just trying to prepare myself as much as possible and I truly want to pass the course.

I'm glad two people will be able to pin me. Avoids hurt feelings if I had to choose one person.

Thanks again

Hah! Funny you should mention hurt feelings! I had my TAC pin me, and my wife and mother are still bent and it is almost a year later.

The command inspection analyzes you ability to understand tasks and apply them. It is a room inspection, and you are only allowed so many demerits. Everything is required to be IAW with WOC Guide. If it deviates in any way, you get a -18, failure to follow instructions. 10 points, and you are only allowed 50 on an inspect. Once you pass, you are pretty much done with the course.

why did you have your TAC pin you? Stockholme Syndrome? :lame:

WOJG,

Yep, don't want to upset my dad or the wifey!

So, if I understand you correctly, each thing they find wrong during the inspection is 10 points off and if there are 5 things not in accordance to the WOC guide, you don't pass?

Thanks again

I wouldn't get too wrapped up about specifics of what is inspected, when, and how many demerits a particular infraction gets you.
Do what the TACs tell you to do when you get there.
As far as preparing: prep yourself physically, learn the Soldiers' Creed and the Army song.
I know you're just trying to get as much G2 as you can before you go, but save your stress for whenyou get there.

I am not of the aristocratic officer blood-line. When we were asked if we wanted a family member to pin on our bars, it was presented to us in a fashion that eluded to the fact that it was the exception, and not the rule to have family do it. I did not go against the grain, and did not put their names on the list.

I am, self admittedly, a tad bit naive at times:)

You can say that again. Can you say sultry? I'm saying...good lord it is miserable here in the summer. I went through in the summer last year. I don't think that we had a dry minute until late september. You clothes, socks, undershirts, hot weather BDU's, BDC...everything will be stained with salt and sweat. You practically have to pour salt on your food in order to regulate your bodies perspiration.

It isn't even April yet, and this week has been a muggy hot mofo.

Don't sweat it, WOJG, Neither am I. Just making an attempt at yanking your chain. I'm sure you'll have at least a couple more opportunities to make it up to the relatives by letting them pin your new bars on.

I'm with x58dav8r.

Just get it through your head now. NO ONE CAN REPPLACE YOUR FAMILY. Hopefully they will still be there long after you're out of the Army.

Pick out the guy in your troop, when you get there, that seems like he's there 23 hours a day, and the only stories he has to tell are work related. He'll probably have bags under his eyes, be either way too skinny or way too fat. He'll probably be the guy that always trying to come across as a hardass to everyone and have his own little mafia in the troop. THAT guy either lost his family to the Army or is about to. Guaranteed.

That being said.....take care of the wife and kids first. People like TAC officers are a temporary condition, and if you had one that pressured you to have a TAC pin you instead of your family, he's a FAG. :wall: :wall:
