View Full Version : Iraq maps & Garmin GPS
I just purchased an E-trex vista and want to load some maps of Iraq into it. Does anyone out there know of a good site or software to do so?
thanks
bigdaddy is supposed to send me some good iraq map data when he gets his stuff out of storage, once I load it on my vista c I can fedex it to you if you would like.:D
Its a deal!
How do ya like your Vista C?
I just got mine in the mail, and so far I am very impressed.

This is a website that is selling Garmin Vista C's with a $100.00 rebate. It comes to around $265.00 if anyone is interested.
The item must be purchased by 30 June 05 to get the rebate.
the vista c is awesome. Once I got the North American data base loaded, I liked it even more. But still trying to figure out all of the features. Got mine for $280 after rebates ($50). Plus I got a free t-shirt with my order.:D :p
Burn time on the Vista C sucks- Badly. bring lots of AA batts. For the maps Terrain Navigator www. maptech.com has sets for Iraq- dont know how much can be actually uploaded to the GPS beyond routes points, but it is the best software out for moving map laptops- seems like they had exportable maps for GPS and palmtop apps.
Ique 3600 is the Garmin product to have. "turn left in 300 meters" given by a sultry voiced babe in a machine is hard to beat. Of corse it just may be a reflection of my own sad pathetic little life that I dig this thing so much...:wacky:
What kind of map data does it use? I have about 100GB of map data for that country.

OMG. Do we really need a GPS for Iraq? I think you need to work on your memory skills.

I bought a GPS before I headed over, I think I used it once...but I guess better to have and not need than need and not have...
