Hey all. Against all tradition of military aviation, I have shed some pounds and my flight suit is hangin. I tried to DX but was told only if they were unserviceable. Some have suggested I cut some seams but I dont really have the heart to do that, so...

Anyone have 2 38R flight suits and want to swap for 40R??? (or even just one) Mine are perfectly serviceable, just too big. Had them about 8 months.

I know I'll be back in ABDU in short time, but I'm keepin my pickle suits and would like them to fit.

Thanks

damn, you went down from a 40R? Doesn't sounds like you had the weight to lose in the first place.

"accidentally" spill some oil/fuel on them. Fuck CIF. If they're acting like dicks and won't give you the proper size I'd throw that suit in the garbage disposal and then tell them to switch it. Talk to your ALSE guy, he should know the tricks for proper red tagging. 30% worn, etc.

If the suit is tagged servicable by ALSE CIF should change it for the correct size. Have your unit commander call down and discuss it with them.

Damaging a good suit would be a bad thing. They are in short supply now-a-days. Fuel and oil would be the same.

Or, wear the large one and wait for someone to notice and discuss it with them then. If you get lucky, maybe it will be CNN and you can answer why the worlds best equiped Army treats it's Aviation just like third world countries treat theirs.

I worked ALSE. If the suits do not fit properly you can DX for properly fitting items, that goes with all items. CIF is screwed in the head if they tell you they have to be unserviceable, they are just being lazy.
Get you ALSE tech to tag them and have him/her go exchange them. I used to do it all the time.
If your shit don't fit you can't do your job correctly and safely! That's what I used to tell them.

Well, if you weren't so damn fat in the first place...!!!!:D

It's not the Army's fault you lost all that weight that you never should have gained!!!

I AM joking of course.......

I believe she is at Rucker if i'm not mistaken.....so as far as unit ALSE, etc. it doesn't apply....might just have to wait till you get to your unit

I used to wear a 38 regular a couple of decades a go. Now I contract out to a local tent maker to make my size.

If I were to trade you my 38s for your 40s then I would be SOL when I need to DX my flight suits. If you recall in order to DX flight suits they need to match the size that is on your hand receipt. So when I bring in a 40 and they see that I was issued 38s they won't accept them.
Hence the regulation allows you to get a new issue if your current ones do not fit. As long as what you are turning in matches what is on your receipt. After that they will reissue you the correct size.
No for the kicker, unless you are permanent party at Rucker (IP, Instructor or student) then you are only allowed to DX for unserviceable flight suits which you will have to return when you clear post. I believe that the CCC and AWOAC does not count for permanent party at CIF.

Lazy, worthless bastards.

Huh. You learn something new every day. I shall return to CIF with all this new knowledge and demand to swap. When they ask what my authority is, I shall refer them to this forum :)

Thanks for the input.

Have alse tag is agood thang..but go see the Property Book Officer at the CIF....every cif has one and don't take no for an answer until you talk to this person. Everyonelse is a freaking PEON!!! I believe you will find supporting documentation in AR 710-2-1 which will be in the supply update 14 or 15 (is a group of supply pams and regs to include ar 735-5 accountability)..good luck and give em hell...

Used to be able to show up at Rucker with old flight suits for an AQC or IP course and then get a temporary issue from CIF with C Co Memo. When you leave take back the old stuff and leave Rucker with brand new flight suits.
